Inspired by monolithic and curved tectonic units, the pier building design harmonizes with its coastal site. Adapting to environmental forces, it resists sea pressure, channels wind, and diffuses sunlight. The exterior suggests a solid mass, but closer inspection reveals an intricate tectonic system. Considering Miami Beach's vulnerability to rising sea levels, the design embraces natural forces and features three levels—above, on, and below water. Circulation cores and windcatchers facilitate cooling, and the repeating unit allows diverse programs to emerge.
